Air Conditioning System Design

Our Process

Something we pride ourselves on is our attention to detail when scoping and designing any type of electrical or mechanical system. This is born out of an understanding that large-scale projects are a big financial and time commitment, so the people that work with us must feel confident in our ability to deliver, even before we have started works.

In this blog, we simplify the process behind industrial air conditioning system design and installation so that you can see exactly how things will go if you choose to work with us.

#1 Site visit and survey:

The first step is for one of our certified experts to carry out a site visit and survey the location.

This step lays the foundations for everything to follow and is perhaps the most important step in understanding the project.  The main concern for most buildings, when it comes to air conditioning system design, is ensuring comfortable airflow for employees and visitors, but some facilities will need more specialised functionality.  A site visit and survey allow us to really get underneath the skin of your needs, as well as the technical requirements, and come up with a bespoke air conditioning system design.

#2 Calculate required heating / cooling:

Whether it’s for a computer or data room, a shop, an office or an industrial facility, we will need to accurately calculate the exact amount of heating or cooling required (the heating / cooling ‘load’), which is generally determined by the area of the space.

Our calculations are often based on the floor area, but can also include the volume of the space, particularly in high-ceilinged buildings.  There are also other factors to consider, such as heat transfer through the walls, doors and roof, any existing heating and lighting systems, IT equipment and occupancy levels.  The size and orientation of windows must also be taken into consideration.

#3 Discuss options with you:

Now that we have a good understanding of your ‘must-haves’, as well as the capacity requirements, we can move on to identify a range of suitable options.  We work with inverter driven equipment, reverse cycle and air source heat pumps and temperature and humidity controls, using the latest Toshiba and Daikin evaporator and condenser technology.

Air conditioning can be one of the highest energy costs to businesses, particularly in large buildings. When considering your options, we will always ensure that the systems we propose are efficient, thus reducing your carbon footprint, and are designed to work with the shape and natural airflow of your building, which is essential to keeping your energy costs down.

#4 Get to work:

Now it’s time to get to work!  With over 25 years’ experience in the industry, our certified engineers not only know their trade, but they also work hard to go the extra mile. Don’t just take our word for it…

“The engineers that came were polite and respectful to the fact that we work in a really busy dental practice, so they understood our business and they were just hassle-free. We’ve got another three surgeries which we will kit out over the next 12 months and we’ll be going straight to EESI for the air conditioning units. We wouldn’t hesitate to use them for other projects because the experience was so streamlined, it was just brilliant. We would recommend EESI to anyone looking for air conditioning.”
